Boom length is the biggest single price factor, with the truck underneath it: 36-metre-plus booms need twin-steer chassis. On used machines the questions are pump hours against truck kilometres, the boom's ten-year major inspection status, and wear items, pipeline and S-tube, that cost real money to renew. Premium European brands hold value over the newer Chinese OEMs on parts support.
The operator maths
A $300,000 mid-life boom financed over five years runs about $1490 a week, and metro pumping rates carry that on a handful of pours. Line pumps are the accessible entry: a $60,000 used trailer pump at about $300 a week is how most owner-operators start.
