What a padel court costs to build in Australia

Ventas Asset Lending  |  23 August 2026

Padel is in its Australian land-grab phase and construction pricing is finally public. Here is what a court actually costs, from two Australian builders' published figures, and what a venue looks like as a repayment.

Per-court build cost

BuildCost per courtFinanced, per week
Outdoor court kit (structure, glass, turf, lighting), slab excluded$65,000 to $85,000$320 to $420
Competition-style court including earthworks and lighting~$100,000~$495
Standard court, full scope (builder estimate)$90,000 to $130,000$445 to $645

The two levers that move the price: the engineered concrete slab, which low quotes exclude because it is priced to your site, and the glass, panoramic frameless versus framed. Multi-court builds cut the per-court cost meaningfully because mobilisation is shared. Indoor conversions add warehouse lease, HVAC and interior fitout on top of a similar per-court kit cost; published venue models put a five-court indoor conversion in the order of $90,000 per court all-in.

The venue maths

A three-court outdoor venue at $100,000 a court financed over five years runs about $1490 a week. Australian courts are renting at premium hourly rates while supply is scarce, which is why the operators moving now are moving fast. Covering courts with a canopy roughly doubles the court cost; no Australian supplier publishes canopy pricing yet, so treat that as quote-only.

Financing the build

Court kits, lighting and fitout finance as a package; the slab and civils side can be structured with property backing where the operator owns the site. Property-backed borrowers generally price around 6% to 9% p.a. and non-property-backed deals around 9% to 13%, with approvals commonly back in 24 to 48 hours. Run the build through the repayment calculator, or start at fitout finance.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a padel court cost to build in Australia?

Australian builders publish $65,000 to $85,000 per outdoor court excluding the concrete slab, around $100,000 for a competition-style court including earthworks, and up to $130,000 full scope. Multi-court builds bring the per-court cost down.

Why do padel court quotes vary so much?

Two items: the engineered slab, which the low quotes exclude because it depends on your site, and the glass specification, panoramic frameless being the premium option.

What does an indoor padel venue cost?

A similar per-court kit cost plus warehouse lease, HVAC and interior fitout; published venue models put five-court indoor conversions in the order of $90,000 per court all-in, before rent.

Can a padel court build be financed?

Yes. The court kits, lighting and fitout write as equipment and fitout finance, and site civils can be structured with property backing where the operator owns the land.
