Finance question
Can I finance a trailer for my business?
Yes. A business trailer is a registered, easily valued asset, which makes it straightforward to finance and use as the security itself. Box trailers, tandem plant trailers, tippers, car carriers and refrigerated food trailers all qualify, new or used.

The short answer
A trailer secures its own finance
Trailers are one of the simplest assets to fund. They carry a registration and a clear resale value, so the lender's security sits in the trailer itself rather than resting on your balance sheet. That means a landscaper buying a tandem plant trailer, a courier adding an enclosed box trailer, or a mobile mechanic towing a workshop setup can usually finance the purchase without tipping up the working capital they need for stock, fuel and wages.
The range is wide, and so are the deals. A basic box trailer might be a few thousand dollars, while a refrigerated food trailer, a car-carrying beavertail, an enclosed motorbike trailer or a hydraulic tipper can run into the tens of thousands. Because we work across 40+ lenders, we match the size and type of trailer to the lender most comfortable with it, then structure the term so the repayment sits sensibly against what the trailer earns.
Used trailers are welcome. A well-kept second-hand plant trailer or dog trailer holds its value, so lenders are happy to secure against it, whether it comes from a dealer, an auction or a private seller. Private-sale purchases can also be financed, with the lender paying the seller directly once the registration check, paperwork and any inspection are done, so you are not left carrying the cost in between.
Do you qualify?
What makes a trailer deal fundable.
A trailer with a purpose
Tipper, plant, car carrier, box or refrigerated food trailer.
An active ABN
Sole traders and companies both qualify.
Dealer or private sale
New, used or bought from a private seller.
Low-doc option
Many trailer deals settle with no financials needed.
Why trailers are easy to finance
Registered and valued
A trailer has a plate and a known resale price, so it secures the loan cleanly.
Holds its value
Good used trailers depreciate slowly, which lenders like as security.
Fast to settle
Simple assets mean simple approvals, often inside 24 to 48 hours.
A real example
A landscaping sole trader needs a $14,000 hydraulic tipper trailer to shift soil and green waste. No up-to-date financials on hand. Secured on the trailer itself and matched to a low-doc lender, it was approved quickly with a small deposit and settled straight from the dealer. Illustrative only.
Common questions
Frequently asked questions
Can I finance a used trailer?
Yes. Used trailers hold their value well, so lenders are comfortable securing against them, whether from a dealer or a private seller.
What types of trailer can be financed?
Box, tandem, plant, tipper, car carrier, dog trailers and refrigerated food trailers all qualify, so long as they are for business use.
Do I need financials to finance a trailer?
Often no. Because the trailer secures the loan, many deals settle low-doc or no-doc with the right lender.
Can I finance a food or coffee trailer?
Yes. A refrigerated or fitted-out mobile trailer, such as a coffee cart, food van trailer or catering setup, is a business asset and can be financed like any other, subject to lender assessment. The fit-out and equipment can often be included in the same facility.
