Finance question

Can I finance an Isuzu truck for my business?

Yes. Late model Isuzu light and medium trucks with a standard body are among the easier trucks to fund, usually with a chattel mortgage. New trucks list from $69,995 drive away for an NLR Traypack to $227,990 for a 17-tonne FVR curtainsider, and specialist bodies or very high kilometres narrow the lender pool, subject to assessment.

The short answer

Easy to fund when the truck is standard

Isuzu publishes no price list in Australia, so the public evidence is dealer listings, and those mix drive away, inc GST and ex GST prices. Our Isuzu truck prices guide opened 21 listings. New trucks run from a $69,995 drive away NLR 45-150 Traypack to a $227,990 drive away FVR curtainsider, about 3.3 times as much (our arithmetic in the guide). Used N Series start near $50,000 inc GST and used F Series run $110,000 to $149,900.

Lenders look at resale depth, and Isuzu says it has led the Australian truck market for 36 consecutive years. Appetite narrows on very high kilometres, on a truck that will be old at the end of the term, on specialist bodies such as a skip loader or water tank, and on private or auction sales with no dealer invoice. Some lenders will say no; others want a bigger deposit or a shorter term.

Isuzu is usually funded with a chattel mortgage, through a bank, non-bank or dealer lender. Dealer estimates on Machines4U listings assume a five-year term with a 30 per cent final payment. Before you apply, put the quote on one price basis, because drive away covers on-road charges and inc GST or ex GST prices do not. Why light trucks fund well

01

Deep resale market

Valuers have plenty of comparable Isuzu sales.

02

Dealer paperwork

A dealer invoice and build sheet simplify the file.

03

Weight class choices

Trucks at 4,500 kg GVM or less drive on a car licence in NSW.

A worked example

A new tray or pantech truck is quoted at $100,000 ex GST, with GST of $10,000. Registration and CTP ($4,500), a tail lift or body extras ($6,000) and first insurance with a buffer ($15,000) bring the cash needed to $135,500 before GST comes back. A chattel mortgage covers $80,000, 80 per cent of the ex GST price, and $20,000 is the deposit. Illustrative only.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Is an Isuzu NPR easy to finance?

Usually. Late model N Series trucks with a standard body and a dealer invoice are among the easier trucks to fund, though every lender decides for itself.

Can I finance a used Isuzu with high kilometres?

It gets harder. Very high kilometres can mean a shorter term, a larger deposit or fewer lenders. A service history and dealer sale help.

What is a balloon on an Isuzu loan?

A final payment due at the end of the term. Dealer estimates in our guide assume a five-year term with a 30 per cent final payment, but your terms depend on the lender.

Should I compare drive away and ex GST prices?

Convert them to one basis first. Drive away covers on-road and government charges, which inc GST and ex GST prices do not. Get the price in writing.
