What a commercial coffee machine costs in Australia
A new two-group commercial coffee machine costs about $5,900 to $25,100 including GST in Australia, from a Sanremo Zoe Compact to a La Marzocco Linea PB X. Eight of the 12 dealer prices we opened sit between $5,900 and $11,200. A grinder, installation and a water filter add about $3,100 (our arithmetic).
A commercial coffee machine costs from under $6,000 to over $25,000, and the gap is the brand, the boiler build and the dealer special, not the number of groups. A Sanremo Zoe Compact two-group is $5,369 plus GST, a La Marzocco Linea PB X is $25,086.60 including GST, and a refurbished Rancilio is $5,739. This guide sets out 13 dealer prices, what sits around the machine (grinder, installation, water filter, service), how buying compares with a roaster's supply deal, and how a machine purchase is funded.
What commercial coffee machines cost
The table lists 12 new two-group machines and one refurbished machine from dealer pages opened on 2 November 2026. Several dealers show prices without GST, so the third column puts every price on a GST-inclusive basis (our arithmetic where we added 10 per cent). Figures are the dealers' own, indicative market data and not Ventas offers. Specials change without notice, so confirm before you budget.

Take the 12 new machines on the same GST-inclusive basis. The cheapest is $5,905.90, the dearest is $25,086.60, and the median is $8,487.60 (our arithmetic). Eight of the 12 sit between $5,900 and $11,200. The other four, all above $17,900, are the Sanremo F18 and Cafe Racer, the Bezzera Victoria and the La Marzocco. We could not open a current dealer page for a Victoria Arduino or Expobar machine, so neither brand is in the table, and one Melbourne-area dealer lists a Rancilio Classe 7 as "Ask for price" (Kitchen Equipment Australia, Thomastown VIC). Expect to phone for a quote on some brands.
What drives the price
Three patterns show up. First, group count does not set the price. Sydney Commercial Kitchens sells the Sanremo Zoe Competition in 2 and 3 group at the same $6,929 plus GST, and KW Commercial says group count should not be used to infer output. Second, the price steps up with the build. The Zoe Competition at $6,929 and the Cafe Racer Naked at $20,789 come from the same maker and the same dealer, so the step up is the build and not the dealer. Third, the published guides agree with the dealer pages. Hospitality Hub, a supplier quote service, puts a mid-range two-group at $6,000 to $12,000 and a high-end machine at $12,000 to $25,000 plus, which matches what we found.
| Published band | Range | Source and date |
|---|---|---|
| One group, entry level | $2,500 to $6,000 | Hospitality Hub, updated 15 May 2025 |
| Two group, mid-range semi-automatic | $6,000 to $12,000 | Hospitality Hub, updated 15 May 2025 |
| Two to three group, high end (dual boiler, programmable) | $12,000 to $25,000 plus | Hospitality Hub, updated 15 May 2025 |
| 35 traditional machines in one retailer's range, ex GST | $4,708 to $24,649, median $8,414 | KW Commercial, 18 August 2026 |
Sydney Commercial Kitchens also shows a "Rent Try Buy" figure for each machine, $97 for the Zoe Competition and $290 for the Cafe Racer Naked, with a 12 month minimum term. The page does not say whether the figure is weekly or monthly or whether it includes GST, so ask before comparing it with the purchase price.
Grinders, installation, filtration and service
The machine is not the whole setup. A cafe also needs a grinder, a water filter, a plumbed install and a service routine. Dealers rarely show these together, so the table pulls the published figures.
| Item | Price shown | Basis and source |
|---|---|---|
| Grinder: Mazzer Major V Auto | $2,244 including GST (was $2,640) | Petra Equipment, SKU M.MAJOR.V.A. Installation optional and extra |
| Grinder: Bezzera BZM80EB electronic | $2,039 ex GST, $2,242.90 including GST | Bens Hospitality Equipment |
| Grinder: Mazzer Super Jolly V Up Electronic | $1,531 ex GST, $1,684.10 including GST | Bens Hospitality Equipment |
| Installation package, NSW and Queensland | $501.50 ex GST | KW Commercial, 18 August 2026. Covers a pressure-limiting valve, Brita filter head and filter, installation and bench testing. Other site work is quoted separately |
| Replacement water filter cartridge: Brita C500 Finest | $344.95 retail, about 3,414 litres of capacity | Fridge Filters Australia, part 1008830. GST basis not stated |
| Annual service by a certified technician | $300 to $1,000 plus | Hospitality Hub, 15 May 2025. The same page's FAQ gives $200 to $500 a year for routine maintenance, so the sources disagree |
| Melbourne mobile call-out and labour | $90 to $110 call-out plus $180 labour, parts extra | Eastlink Espresso. The page shows both $90 and $110 for the call-out. GST basis not stated |
| Repair parts: pump or boiler | $300 to $1,200 | Hospitality Hub, 22 April 2025 |
| Running cost: electricity | $50 to $150 a month | Hospitality Hub, 15 May 2025 |
For a first-pass budget, the Mazzer Major V Auto ($2,244), the KW installation package ($501.50 plus GST is $551.65, our arithmetic) and one Brita cartridge ($344.95) come to about $3,140 (our arithmetic), before a second grinder for decaf or single origin, delivery, benches, plumbing changes or a knock box and tamper kit. Petra and Hospitality Superstore both leave delivery and installation to be quoted after the order, and Petra lists the La Marzocco with installation as an extra charge. Water quality matters: hard water scales the boiler, which is why dealers bundle a filter into installation. Pumps and boilers are the expensive repair, at $300 to $1,200 on Hospitality Hub's list.
Buying new, buying used, or taking the roaster's machine
New, refurbished or on a roaster's loan is a real choice. The one refurbished machine we could open is a Rancilio Classe 7 at $5,739 tax included, with a 3 month parts warranty and no state shown. The same Classe 7 model is $11,204.60 new at Hospitality Superstore. The $5,465.60 gap (our arithmetic) buys a longer warranty and no wear. Check the warranty length, whether the boiler and pump were serviced, and whether a lender will fund a used machine: Hospitality Hub says machines are typically under 5 years old for asset finance, which is a guide and not a rule every lender follows.
Many roasters supply a machine alongside a coffee supply agreement. Sprintlaw, a legal-document service, says the roaster usually keeps title to loaned equipment unless a sale is agreed, and its worked example has a cafe buying 30 kilos a week at a preferred wholesale rate. Agreements can also carry exclusivity, a minimum weekly or monthly spend, and rules for what happens if volume falls short. It sets no standard term or kilogram threshold, and we found no executed contract with published figures, so treat any quoted threshold as one roaster's offer. The machine is not free: the roaster recovers its cost through the price of the beans. Ask for the price per kilo with and without the machine, the term, the exit cost, and who pays for repairs and service.
The trade-off is simple. Buying costs more up front and leaves you free to change roaster, which matters if your coffee is the product. A supply deal costs less up front and ties you to one supplier, and you do not own the asset. If the cafe sells more than the minimum, ownership usually pays off. If volume is uncertain, the supply deal is the safer start. Ask your accountant how either arrangement is treated for GST and tax.
Financing a commercial coffee machine
A coffee machine is a small-ticket asset, and lenders treat it that way. Some lenders will not write below a minimum loan size, and a new cafe with no trading history faces tighter limits than an established one. A used machine may sit outside a lender's age limit. Lenders also look at what the machine would fetch second-hand, which is far less than its price new. Ventas is a finance broker, not a lender, so we do not quote rates here. They change with the lender, the asset and the file, and finance is subject to lender assessment.
Illustrative only, subject to lender assessment. A new cafe buys a mid-range two-group machine and one grinder:
| Item | Amount |
|---|---|
| Commercial 2 group machine, mid-range (Rancilio Classe 7 USB Tall, GST included) | $11,200 |
| Grinder (Mazzer Major V Auto, GST included) | $2,250 |
| Installation, plumbing and water filter | $900 |
| Total cost, GST included | $14,350 |
And how it is typically funded:
| Funding layer | Amount | What it covers | Secured on |
|---|---|---|---|
| Equipment finance | $11,000 | Part of the machine and grinder | The equipment itself |
| Your funds: savings, or a property-backed loan | $3,350 | Deposit gap, installation and the filter | Cash, or your home or other property |
| Total | $14,350 |
Equipment finance is secured on the machine, so it can be a good fit when the owner has little else to offer, and the term is usually matched to the machine's useful life. Where the machine is part of a bigger cafe fit-out or purchase, a property-backed loan may fund the whole package. The cost is that your property is at risk if the cafe struggles.
What makes a machine fundable:
- A dealer quote or listing. Brand, model, serial number and age, on an invoice that shows GST.
- Age. New or recent machines are easier to fund than old ones.
- Trading evidence. Financials and BAS for an existing business, or a lease and a plan for a new one.
- Your deposit. Cash toward the price lowers the lender's risk.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a commercial coffee machine cost in Australia?
New two-group machines on the dealer pages we opened run from $5,905.90 to $25,086.60 including GST, with a median of $8,487.60 (our arithmetic). A refurbished Rancilio Classe 7 was $5,739. Add a grinder at about $2,244, installation from $501.50 plus GST, and a water filter.
How much is a La Marzocco commercial coffee machine?
Petra Equipment lists the La Marzocco Linea PB X two-group at a special price of $25,086.60 including GST, down from $27,874, with a 12 month warranty and installation extra. Dealers rarely publish other La Marzocco prices, so ask for a written quote.
Do I need a grinder and a water filter as well?
Yes. The machine does not grind, and filtration protects the boiler from scale. One Mazzer grinder was $2,244 including GST, and KW Commercial's $501.50 plus GST installation package includes a Brita filter head and filter. A replacement cartridge is about $345.
Is a roaster's free machine really free?
No. Sprintlaw says the roaster usually keeps title to loaned equipment, and agreements can set a minimum volume, a minimum spend and exclusivity. The roaster recovers its cost through the coffee price. Compare the price per kilo with and without the machine, and check the exit terms.
Can I finance a commercial coffee machine?
Often, but not always. Equipment finance is secured on the machine, and lenders look at its age, your trading history and your deposit. Some lenders will not fund small amounts or older used machines. Ventas is a broker, so approval and terms depend on the lender.
