What a Hino truck costs in Australia, new and used

Ventas Asset Lending  |  Reviewed by Caleb Morehu  |  Updated 26 October 2026

Used Hinos list in Australia from $25,800 for a 2016 Hino 300 with 488,988 km. New 300 Series 616 trays and tippers ask $72,999 to $74,900, used 500 Series trucks $64,990 to $229,800 and new 700 Series trucks $215,880 to $359,880, all inc GST. Hino's releases state no prices, so weight class, body and kilometres set the price.

A Hino is three buying decisions in one. A 300 Series 616 is a 4.5 tonne truck you can drive on a car licence, a 500 Series is a medium rigid, and a 700 Series is a heavy 4x2, 6x4 or 8x4 tipper or prime mover, so one price does not exist. None of the Hino Australia releases we read states a price, so the evidence is what dealers ask. This guide sets out 14 priced Hinos across five states, opened on 22 October 2026, then the series compared, what moves the price, what an auction paid, the costs on top and how a Hino is funded. Figures are asking prices, indicative market data and not Ventas offers.

What Hino trucks are listed for

Read our Kenworth prices guide alongside this one, and the tipper truck cost guide for bodies. The table lists 14 Hino trucks from Truck Dealers Australia and Machines4U, opened on 22 October 2026. Prices are on the seller's GST basis, so convert before comparing, and a new truck shows delivery kilometres. They are asking prices, indicative market data and not Ventas offers.

Four things stand out.

Other new 700 Series stock: an FH 1836 4x2 beavertail in Victoria at $215,880, an FS 2632 tipper in New South Wales at $269,263, a mine-spec FS 2636 tipper in Western Australia at $319,990, and an FS 2632 tiltslide in Victoria at $359,880, which our tilt tray guide covers. A 2010 FS 2844 tipper with 224,350 km in Western Australia asks $144,990.

Three listings contradict themselves. The FL 2628 shows 2022 in its year field and 2023 in its headline, the 2015 FE 1426 shows 12,000 kg GVM where the 2020 FE 1426 shows 14,000 kg, and the 2013 GH 1728 shows 206 hp in one field and about 280 hp (206 kW) in its text. Confirm each in writing before you pay a deposit.

Hino 300, 500 and 700 Series compared

None of the Hino Australia releases we read states a price. This split comes from those releases and the listings above.

Timing matters. The Euro 6 300 diesel is new from June 2026 and the 2027 500 is open to order, so some 2025 and early 2026 stock above is outgoing-model stock. Ask which model year and emissions standard the truck is built to.

What moves the price of a Hino

New prices and what an auction paid

CarsGuide shows a 2026 Hino 300 guide range of $60,124 to $92,538 from Glass's third party data, excluding stamp duty and other government charges. The new 616 trucks above sit inside it. The 500 and 700 Series need a dealer quote to spec.

Auction results run lower. Grays sold a 2023 Hino 300 4x2 tipper with 5,639 km on 28 August 2024 for $35,599 plus GST, after 363 bids, with no warranty and a 9 per cent buyer's premium in that price band. That is about 52 per cent of the $68,073 ex GST (our arithmetic from $74,880 inc GST) asked for a new 616 factory tipper in Victoria, before the premium. The sale is two years old, so read it as a floor, not a valuation. Pickles listed 53 Hino lots on 22 October 2026 without prices, and we found no Hino 500 or 700 auction result to cite.

In NSW a car licence covers up to 4.5 tonnes GVM, light rigid 4.5 to 8 tonnes, medium rigid two-axle trucks over 8 tonnes, and heavy rigid three or more axles over 8 tonnes. A 14,000 kg FE is a medium rigid truck and a 6x4 700 Series needs heavy rigid. A prime mover also needs a trailer, and our semi trailer cost guide prices those.

Financing a Hino truck

Ventas is a finance broker, not a lender, so we do not quote rates here. A Hino is usually funded with a chattel mortgage, where you own the truck and the lender takes security over it, through a bank, a non-bank lender or the dealer's lender. Credit for business purposes is generally outside consumer credit rules, as ASIC explains.

Be realistic about lender appetite. Hino is a mainstream make with a deep used market, and lenders generally fund new and near-new Hinos from a dealer routinely. They get cautious about kilometres and age. A 2016 truck on 488,988 km, or one that will be well past ten years old when the loan ends, can mean a shorter term, a bigger deposit or a no. Auction and private sales are harder than dealer sales.

Illustrative only, subject to lender assessment. A used 500 Series service truck advertised at $100,000 ex GST (not one of the listings above):

ItemAmount
Truck price ex GST$100,000
GST$10,000
Inspection and transport (our allowance)$2,000
Registration, transfer and any state duty (our allowance, varies by state)$4,500
First insurance premium and working capital buffer (our allowance)$12,000
Total cash needed before the GST comes back$128,500

And how it is typically funded across lender types:

Funding layerAmountWhat it coversSecured on
Truck finance, such as a chattel mortgage$80,00080 per cent of the ex GST priceThe truck
Your deposit: savings, or a property-backed loan$20,000The other 20 per cent of the priceCash, or your home or other property
GST$10,000Paid at purchase unless the lender funds it, then claimed back through the BAS if you are registeredCash or short-term funding
Costs and working capital$18,500Inspection, registration, insurance and a bufferCash
Total$128,500

Debt here is about 62 per cent of the cash needed (our arithmetic). A property-backed loan can cover the deposit and costs, with the risk that your property is on the line if the work dries up.

What makes a Hino deal fundable:

To get a number from Ventas, send the series and badge (for example 616 or FE 1426), the year and kilometres, the price and whether it is ex or inc GST, whether the seller is a dealer, private seller or auction, the body, your ABN and GST start dates, and whether you own property. Start at truck finance, read how to finance a second-hand truck, or test a repayment on the truck finance calculator. Finance is subject to lender assessment and approval.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a Hino truck cost in Australia?

Hino Australia's releases state no prices. Listings opened on 22 October 2026 ran from $25,800 inc GST for a 2016 Hino 300 with 488,988 km to $305,000 inc GST for a new 700 Series FY 3036 tipper. Three new 616 trays and tippers asked $72,999 to $74,900.

How much is a new Hino 300?

A new 616 asked $72,999 for a diesel alloy tray in South Australia, $74,880 for a factory tipper in Victoria and $74,900 for a hybrid tray, all inc GST. CarsGuide shows a 2026 guide range of $60,124 to $92,538 before government charges.

How much does a used Hino 500 Series cost?

Four used 500 Series trucks asked $64,990 to $229,800 inc GST: a 2013 GH 1728 with 448,079 km at $64,990, a 2015 FE 1426 tipper at $99,000, a 2020 FE 1426 service body with 29,434 km at $139,900, and a 2022 FL 2628 curtainsider at $229,800.

How much is a Hino 700 Series?

New 700 Series trucks asked $215,880 for an FH 1836 beavertail up to $359,880 for an FS 2632 tiltslide, inc GST. A new SS 2848 prime mover asked $249,000 in South Australia, and a 2019 SS 2848 with 303,370 km asked $125,000 ex GST.

Can I drive a Hino 300 on a car licence?

Some, not all. A car licence covers vehicles up to 4.5 tonnes GVM, and the Hino 300 616 is rated at 4,495 kg. Larger 300 Series trucks need a light rigid licence, which covers 4.5 to 8 tonnes. One South Australian dealer prices lifting a 616 to 5,500 kg GVM at $2,000 plus GST.

Can I finance a used Hino with high kilometres?

Often, but it narrows the field. A lender weighs the truck's age when the loan ends, its kilometres, who is selling it and the work you have for it. Expect a shorter term, a deposit or a no on very high kilometres. Subject to lender assessment.
