What a New Holland tractor costs in Australia

Ventas Asset Lending  |  Reviewed by Caleb Morehu  |  Updated 4 November 2026

New Holland publishes no Australian tractor price list. Live used listings run from $25,000 ex GST for a 55 hp TT55 to $585,000 ex GST for a 2024 T9.700, with a 2018 T7.260 at $215,000. Horsepower, hours, loader, guidance and whether the price includes GST move the number most.

A New Holland tractor can cost $25,000 or more than half a million dollars, and the maker does not publish a price for either. Prices come from dealers, so the useful numbers are asking prices on real machines, read alongside hours and fit-out. The spread comes from horsepower, from a loader or guidance, from wheeled against tracked, and from how many hours the machine has worked. This guide sets out what 11 live used listings across six states ask, what the maker advertises on finance, what moves the price, and how the purchase is funded.

What New Holland tractors cost

New Holland Australia publishes no tractor price list. Its Oceania page, accessed 3 November 2026, shows ranges and finance offers but no prices and no horsepower. So the only dated, public prices are dealer asking prices. This table surveys 11 listings on Machines4U on 3 November 2026, across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania. We opened each listing and copy its fields. Figures are the seller's asking prices, indicative market data and not Ventas offers. Where a field is missing the table says so. We found no priced listing in the Northern Territory or the ACT, and every New Holland listing we opened is used. We did not find a new Boomer, T5 or T6 listing with a price we could verify, so we publish none.

Three things stand out. First, the Machines4U listings show ex GST and inc GST side by side, and the gap is 10 per cent, so compare every tractor on one basis. Second, hours matter more than year at the compact end: the 2016 T4.65 with 6,902 hours asks $45,000, while the 2024 T4.65 with a loader asks $57,500. Third, the big tracked and 4WD machines carry most of the dollars. The 2024 T9.700 asks $585,000 ex GST and the 2019 T9.615 SmartTrax asks $460,000, a gap of $125,000 (our arithmetic) for a machine five years newer with about a quarter of the hours (850 against 3,244). They are different models, so it is a guide, not a depreciation curve.

Price against horsepower and range

Horsepower is the strongest guide, and our arithmetic on the listings above gives a rough dollars-per-horsepower for the ones that state it. These are asking prices ex GST.

ListingHp shownAsking price ex GSTPer hp
TT55 (1289162)55$25,000$455
T4.65, 2016 (1267369)65$45,000$692
T7.260, 2018 (1246701)260$215,000$827
T7.315 HD, 2018 (1127921)300$220,000$733
T9.615 SmartTrax, 2019 (1235913)615$460,000$748

The per-hp figure sits in a narrow band of about $450 to $830 for used machines, and the lowest figure belongs to the oldest, highest-hour small tractor. Do not read it as a price list: the T7.260 has 2,740 hours, the T7.315 HD has 5,089, and the T9.615 is tracked with a guidance screen. Hours, drive system and fit-out explain more of the gap than the badge.

New Holland's range, as the Oceania page shows it, runs from the T7 (a new standard wheelbase and a Heavy Duty version) through the T8 to the T9 SmartTrax, with the T9.700 named in a banner. Compact and mid-range models appear in dealer stock under codes such as TT55, T4.65, TD5.100, T6080 and T7060, but the maker's page does not give their prices. Treat any figure you see for a new tractor as a dealer quote and ask for it in writing.

What moves the price

How New Holland sits in the market

Tractor and Machinery Association figures, reported by Maquinac, put the 2025 Australian new tractor market at 9,521 units, down 7.0 per cent on 10,242 in 2024. For 2024 brand shares, the same article gives John Deere 19.2 per cent, Massey Ferguson 15.4 per cent and Kubota 10.7 per cent. It does not give a New Holland share, and we have not found one, so we do not publish one. The TMA said sales were down 12 per cent year to date to August 2026, with the 100 to 200 hp class down 13.0 per cent and 200 hp plus down 9.4 per cent. A soft market gives buyers room to negotiate on dealer stock, although the machine still needs inspecting.

None of these brands publishes a full new price list, so a comparison comes from listings and quotes. Our John Deere prices guide and Kubota prices guide set out the bands for those makes, and the tractor prices by horsepower guide compares brands across 15 listings. Compare like for like: same horsepower, same cab and loader, same transmission and the same GST wording.

The maker's finance offers are a second price lever. New Holland Australia advertises these, as shown on its offers page on 3 November 2026. The footnotes to the asterisked offers were not visible to us, so read the full terms with a dealer.

Who buys these tractors

The T9 SmartTrax, T8 and T7 Heavy Duty suit broadacre cropping and large contracting, where drawbar power and guidance drive the choice. The T7 standard and the T6080 and T7060 class suit mixed farms, dairy and hay operators who want a cab, a loader or both. The T4.65, TD5.100 and TT55 class suit small acreage, council work, vineyards and orchards, and grazing. The listings above include an ex council T4.65 and a cab T7060, which shows how widely the brand is used.

Financing a New Holland tractor purchase

Tractors are one of the easier farm assets to fund. The machine carries a serial number, sells through dealers, brokers and auctions, and a lender can value it. Appetite is not unlimited. Lenders mark down old or high-hour machines, and several listings above are in that territory: the 2008 T7060 at 6,623 hours and the 2016 T4.65 at 6,902 hours. Some lenders want an inspection report on used stock, and the very large tracked machines may need a bigger deposit or extra security because one machine can be worth more than the equipment limit a farm business can carry. Ventas is a finance broker, not a lender, so we do not quote rates here. They change with the lender, the asset and the file. The maker's offers above are for new machines through the dealer and do not cover the used tractor you find from a broker or private seller. A broker can fund any machine from any seller, with terms and balloon options set by the lender.

Illustrative only, subject to lender assessment. A used 2018 T7.260 at the $215,000 ex GST asking price above:

ItemAmount
Tractor price, ex GST$215,000
GST on the invoice$21,500
Independent inspection and freight (assumed)$3,000
Total to fund at settlement, before any GST credit$239,500

And how it is typically funded across lender types:

Funding layerAmountWhat it coversSecured on
Equipment finance (chattel mortgage)$161,25075 per cent of the ex GST priceThe tractor itself, registered on the PPSR
Your funds, a trade-in or a property-backed loan$78,250Deposit, GST, inspection and freightCash, the trade-in, or your home or other property
Total$239,500

Debt here is 75 per cent of the ex GST price. How GST is treated depends on your registration and the lender, so ask your accountant. A property-backed loan secured on a home or other property can cover the deposit, or most of the purchase, because the lender relies on the property. The cost is that your property is at risk if the income does not arrive.

What does a small New Holland tractor with a loader cost?

Used listings run from $25,000 ex GST for a 55 hp TT55 with a loader to $57,500 ex GST for a 2024 T4.65 with a loader and 4-in-1 bucket. A 2024 TD5.100 with a loader asks $93,500 ex GST. Prices are asking prices, not sales.

Does New Holland offer finance on its tractors?

Its Australian offers page advertises 1.99% p.a. over 48 months on T9 SmartTrax tractors ordered by 31 December 2026, and other T8, T9 and T7 Heavy Duty offers with conditions. These apply to new machines through a dealer. Read the full terms before relying on them.

Can I finance a used New Holland tractor?

Often, yes. Lenders fund used tractors from dealers, brokers and auctions, with age and hours affecting the term and deposit. Very old, high-hour or large tracked machines can need more deposit or security. Approval depends on your trading history, the machine and the file.
